KABUL, Afghanistan – Over the course of nine
months under the Taliban leadership, Afghanistan
exported dried fruits worth of $270 million, said
the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MoIC).
Earlier this month, the Ministry of Finance (MoF)
said the country witnessed increase in exports
and imports of Afghan products through air
corridors more recently.
The ministry of commerce vows to provide better
facilities for Afghan traders in order to increase
export of dried fruits to foreign countries.
The dry fruits that have been sent to various
countries include pine nuts, pistachio and
raisins – product Afghanistanis known for
among the regional countries.
“We have had several shipments of export,”
said Akhundzada Abdul Salam, a spokesman for
the MoIC, as TOLOnews quoted.“We had exports
to Europe, Canada and Australia which showed
a sharp rise compared to the previous year.”
